i was looking at the silly prices pet shops charge for essentially a piece of plastic or cardboard tube, with that in mind is there anything stopping me using something like a brand new piece of drainage pipe I could 'source' ☺️ From work? Or would it pose a threat to them were a shop bought plastic tube wouldn't?

I think the drainage pipe will work wonderful. Just make sure you clean it well.

The tunnels are so expensive for pets. I've seen people use new and clean drainage pipe tunnels. As long as it's wide enough the guineas can fit through and don't get stuck. I have one very large and fuzzy haired guinea who has got stuck in a tube and was walking round with in still on her, i tend to stick to hidey houses, etc now.

I could not agree more.
Severl of my piggies favorite tunnels were bought from the plumbing section of the local DIY store.
I am sure they think I am some kind of master builder as I walk in with my paper with all the dimensions of the guinea pigs butts scribbled on it :))

I bought a medium sized plastic tunnel from pets at home the other day for £7 but then found a giant cat tunnel in a charity shop for £4 so got that too but the pigs seem to be scared of it lol.Ive also got a big tunnel made of fabric which was only £2.99 and the pigs love it, especially guiseppe who was popcorning like mad when I put it out for him but it keeps collapsing unfortunately cos it's so flimsy.

I tend to hunt around. I found that in the range the same tunnel that was in pets at home for £5 was only £1. Worth having a look around if you want a specific one.

The rescue that ours came from had those t shaped connecting pipes from an outside drain, so pretty sizeable and also meant three entrances/exits.

I must have a look in the range. Never been there but so many people say how good it is.

I agree the prices of those plastic tunnels are horrendous! I think the cardboard tunnel price makes me laugh the most I mean it is cardboard! I have however given up on the plastic/cardboard ones now as they just turn into a sewer pipe with my piggies so now I buy fleece ones from ziggy at £7.50 each and I just wash them, or I use two or three of the wooden log bridges all put together so they run through those instead works a treat!
