So, the big arc is almost finished and i want to paint it a sage green type colour. Those of you who have hutches this colour, what did you use....i know you are out there, i've seen the photos! Both dulux and crown do a normal gloss paint, but would that be ok. It says ok for exterior wood, but do i need the mega hard core external stuff (which doesn't come in a sage green)

Thank you

i used cuprinol garden shades recently which is an outdoor paint and i've heard is pet safe. it's quite expensive (but i think all paint is expensive!), i think it was about £13 for a normal sized tin (sorry - very vague) but it came out really nice. i used the maple leaf colour, but they also have a paler green and quite a few different colours.

Thanks for those - i've had a good look but was hoping more for a gloss paint type, rather than a stain. I'd like to paint my old brown hutch to match adn its so dark it'd need a paint to cover the dark stain.

We're only going to be painting the outside like this, so the guineas won't be able to chew it.

I'm inspired by iloveguineas' hutch - looks painted rather than stained to me, but i could of course be wrong

I used Cuprinol garden shades too dries super fast and Lasts YEARS:) My Hutch was painted in this stuff five years ago I did 4 coats and still looks brilliant water proof too. Well worth the extra pennies

Thanks all. off to the diy shop today - will try and post pictures of the result.

But its still a kind of natural dark green, not the violent bright green I've seen in fence treatments! I love yours iluvguineapigs. Bought primer and some gloss today, so will hopefully paint and upload photos tomorrow.
