Senior Guinea Pig
A Rescue Bunny
I was born a tiny kit,
Pink and helpless
Snuggled up with my brothers and sisters
In a warm, fur lined nest
Soon I grew up
I learnt to stand
I learnt to hop
But I snuggled safe with my Mum
But soon this was to change
I was taken away from my Mum
Stuffed into a box
With my brother and sisters
I felt scared, my heart did pound
I had no idea what was happening
Why it was happening
Where I would go
I was placed into a plastic cage
I could hear squawking birds
I could hear shouting
My whole body shook with fear so I lay down safe
Than some time later I heard a loud shout
“I want this rabbitâ€
I was scooped up
And I felt a hard stroke
Placed into yet another box
Again wondered where I would go
I hoped it was nice
I hoped my Mum would be there
I saw my new home.
It wasn’t that big
I couldn’t really stand up now as young rabbit
Or properly hop to side to side
My food was not for my species
My hay was non-existent
My water bottle was too small
I knew I couldn’t last long here.
Apart from a couple of times when I was new
I never felt no love
I was lonely as I was alone
I never knew what to do.
Than one day I noticed that my latch on my door wasn’t shut
I hopped straight on out
I hopped out of the garden
And onto the street
I felt someone catch me,
And than tell me that I was going somewhere new
I was taken to the local rescue shelter
Where I was assured that they’d know what to do
When I got there.
My hutch was big,
I had plenty of hay
And the right sort of food..
