Hi! I'm new to this thread and I joined because I recently bought two babies, they are around 3-4 months old and I was holding my guinea pig, Rolo, earlier and I noticed him making subtle sqeaking/grunting sounds, also he kept cleaning himself quite comfortably while I had him sat next to me cuddling him on a pillow. I was wondering if this is a sign of him being comfortable with me? (I have had both of them for around two weeks now and everyday I have been getting them out and cuddling them for around half an hour every couple of hours) So I dont know if the grunts are him saying "i'm scared" or him saying "I like this" and him cleaning himself on me, is that a sign of him being comfortable?

Thank you ! :D Yeah I was just curious because I'm not really very good at identifying the sounds I have done like a ridiculous amount of research on my babies so I think you are right about him being comfortable I will definately give figuring out the meaning of his noises a shot! thank you!

I just checked out the link you sent me and i think he noises are definately happy ones! thank you ! it was hugely helpful ! ^^

A piggy grooming himself means that he is relaxed and wants to interact socially with you. Grooming signals friendliness. I mimic back some grooming gestures (like pushing hair back) to tell him back that I am interested in a friendship, too.
