Ok I need a definitive piece of advice.
I have a pair of sows in an r5a cage in my utility room and a lone boar in a 100cm cage on top (skyline maxi xxl on order).

I don't like the boar being on his own, but will there be trouble with the sows being so close? I really want to keep them in the utility all in one place rather than 2 here and 2 there.

I know I have o properly bond the boars, it's the proximity of the females that worries me.

Thoughts?

I have two c & C cages one on top of a table ( with 2 sows) and one underneath ( with 2 boars ). The boys are fine as long as I don't muddle any of their stuff up with the sow's. I would add that my two boys are very well paired up, we took Wallace on a boardate when he lost his first cagemate and he bonded really well with Rocket who was very young so Wally ( being a bit of an old man now at 5 ) does tend to just let Rocket's shenanigans pass him by.

If I did get him a mate (there is a chance of someone locally giving up a boar but if hat doesn't happen) I would like to do proper boar dating somewhere.
Is there anyone local to me that does it?

I would try Windwhistle Warren by Cheltenham; they are your closest recommendable rescue. It is really worth going a little bit further afield for careful boar bonding, as the success of a stable boar bond is down to character compatibility, and dating is the best way to find out which boars really get on.

A good rescue gives your boar time to meet more than one candidate under expert supervision if necessary and also tests the bond before sending two newly bonded boars home.

PS: Walsall doesn't offer boar dating. But there are also several rescues in the Bristol area.

I have a pair of girls and (now, sadly) a single boar who did have a partner, and their hutches could not have been more than 8 feet apart. They are absolutely fine, and have never had issues with proximity.
However, I agree that finding a new friend for your handsome boy would be a great idea :) x

I was under the impression they had recently looked into the dating service.

Thanks, Cheltenham isn't that far, only about 16 miles so can easily do that.
I need to find out if this woman is getting rid of her boar and if not I can get started. When he hears the girls wheeking he cranes his neck to try and see what's going on, poor thing!
Do boar bonding people bond 2 boars that you take, so if I did get this one from the woman, would it be normal that they would do the bonding? Or would they only do it with one of theirs.
Wind whistle do have a lone boy who looks lovely.

Reading around other threads, I'm worried that 2 boars sat directly above 2 sows is too close.
Can anyone advise?

I'm in the exact same position, I have a lone sow and a lone boar! I would really love to find them both a life friend! But am a little concerned the scent of the sows will cause problems with the males! I don't know of any where local to me that does dating! I did pop into the local RSPCA today, but they don't have any piggies at all... That's I good thing I think! Really in a quandary and not sure what to do for the best! :{
