We were having 2 piggies tomorrow, both males who were brothers. Well, I had a message from the lady tonight and she informed me that one of the males has did today. She was very apologetic and asked if I wanted to have the other male and the female (brother & sister). My DH has said yes, that will be fine. Will we have to keep them seperate? Have the male neutered? DH doesn't seem worried but I'm a bit worried about it.

hello there :)
Do you know if they are kept together with the lady and how old they are, chances are the sister may already be pregnant?
maybe you could find out, she may have already neutered had the male neutered

You cannot keep the male and female together so there is no point getting them as they will both have to live alone and be lonely. Did she say how the piggy died? I wonder if he has an illness and the others may have it too. Would you consider adopting from a rescue? You can be sure they have healthy piggies and will be giving some piggys a loving home.

You are right and my DH and I had a talk about it and we agreed that it would be foolish to have the male and female, so I have sent a message to the lady asking if we could have just the male and the cage which she offered us for sale, and we shall find another male so that he don't get lonely.

If you don't know what the other piggy died of I'd be wary of taking the sibling. It might be incubating something.
You would be better off going to a rescue centre and getting a pair that are already bonded and healthy.
I'm sure the lady would understand and if she doesn't then she's probably not the best person to get a piggy from anyway!

I really do not think you should take this boar. You will need to find him a friend so surely it is better to get a bonded pair from a rescue?

I have just messaged the lady and told her that we want to get 2 males from the same litter rather than 1 from one litter and having to try and find a suitable companion so didn't want to have just the male.

maybe you could let us know where abouts you are based and we could point you in the direction of a reputable rescue who will be able to pair you up with a lovely well bonded and healthy piggie couple

Ahh well there should be a far few not a million miles away...
