PigglePuggle
Senior Guinea Pig
Blod has been back at the vets today... we were booked in to review her teeth and discuss her having dental surgery... then she started honky breathing again...!
And I heard a bit of gruntiness from Piggle too so we took her along for company and a check-up.
Anyway a different vet today and a good outcome![smile :) :)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f60a.png)
The vet (Polish lady I think) phoned: " The first thing I need to say is..."
Me: "yes...?" like super worried...
Vet: "These are not sick animals, they are very, very healthy animals! They are plump, very plump. And strong, and fast! I put them on the floor and could not catch them! Excellent body condition!"
Well, its always nice when the piggies get praise from the vet! And we certainly aren't short of healthy heft round here!
So no antibiotics, the vet thinks its just a nose thing and maybe the central heating is making the air a bit dry, but we have bisolvon decongestant powder (Blod will be pleased, there will be bisolvy-grapes) and instructions to steam them both by the shower and keep an eye on them for a week.
The vet we saw today thinks Blod's special inbred face shape is likely to just make her a regular honker, so best keep the antibiotics is reserve for when she seems ill or there is a rattly chest as well as a honky nose, which sounds sensible.
Same with the teeth:
"her face, her teeth... will never be perfect" said the vet, "but she is not ill, her lungs are clear, her mouth is not sore, there is good wear on the teeth, and she clearly eats well, very well!"
So no dental surgery and no baytril for little Blodwen honks- she just has a funny wonky honky face![smile :) :)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f60a.png)
