hey :)
so currently our pigs Brussels and Sprout are living in a 2 tier hutch outside, each level measuring about 120x45cm. to me, thats not big enough considering my hamsters have big cages :L so... the pigs have thick fur and they have been outside their whole life (under a big cover so they wouldnt get wet in a storm) so i thought maybe a c&c cage outside?
now before i continue i'll just mention that there WILL be a secure lid, obviously i wouldnt just leave the top open so foxes can have a big meal rolleyes
i was thinking a 5x2 grid cage? i dont want it to be massive, the guinea pigs dont even use that much room anyway :L just with their current hutch i cant really fit anything in there :P and i like them to have some running around space XD
so, i was thinking if i bought 1 pack of grids from b&q and built it up without a base, as i will have it on a table or boxes or something. or would it be better with 2 packs of grids so i can raise it up plus have a base? that would be a massive £46 and i thought c&c were supposed to be cheap @)
i would use c&c to make a removeable top, clipped on by bulldog clips (i think thats what you call them) and cable tied together so it almost forms one big grid if you get what i mean. also, instead of doing a big side opening where the whole side comes out i would do 1 grid which can swing open, to quickly fill up the foodbowl. again i would secure it with a bulldog clip so it doesnt just stay open lol.
i hope my plans dont sound to confusing :P if i have leftover grids i will raise the whole thing off the floor (as it would be anyway) but i just wont have to buy a table for it :P
do you think they sound ok? as ive heard people say c&c are not for outdoors etc :L
thanks!x (and sorry for long, long post)

hi the main reason for not using C&C cages outside is the fact that the gaps in them are rather large and therefore offer no protection from the elements. as well as being easy enough to knock over (cats/dogs/foxes etc)

hope that makes sense

there are places that make hutches to requirements (don't know any off hand but have seen them when browsing ebay) maybe a purpose built hutch would be better suited

ok ok i'll try find one :)
we have 3 sheds but all are packed full of junk it would take years to sort it all out :)) hehe so i dont think we can really. besides i dont think my dad would be pleased as the whole house is already overrun by animals i think the shed is the only animal free place! haha rolleyes
