Eddi, Ruby, come quickly. There is a big and quite scary intruder in our cage.
We need to stick together to defeat it.

Eddi for heavens sake, help us scare off this intruder and stop looking at the humans to see if they have any blueberries. You are supposed to protect us girls you know.

Don't go in there Ruby it might eat you.
Oh, good it didn't eat you.

Wait.
You are eating it - wait for me.
This is lovely.
I am so happy we have a new friend.

The humans call her 'Hazel', but I shall call her 'Yummy'.

Love Lucy.

It is a branch from a hazel tree.
They love fresh branches, although up until now they have had mostly apple, with the odd beech branch thrown in (although I do limit beech to once every 2 weeks or so).
I have been on the hunt for other tree branches that I can give them more regularly, and today I came across a hazel tree in a good spot (wild, no pesticides, away from the road, not really on private property, etc).
So that is what they got.
I also think I might have found a good source of plum branches, so will be off tomorrow to confirm.
They all love being given the chance to play with, explore, and eat (obviously!) a huge fresh branch.

They look to be loving it! Beautiful little munchers! Well done on the foraging. Not a blueberry in sight! :))

Can piggies eat any sort of branches, I never thought of doing that. What a great idea!
will set up a separate thread . I seem to recall hearing that guineas shouldn't eat branches from trees of fruit that have stones - e.g. plum , cherry . We'll see what others say on a separate thread .
