Hi all, over the past day or so I have noticed my piggie Delilah sneezing a bit more than usual and on inspection she seems to have a slight wet/runny nose and one of her eyes looks a little watery. I have recently got a new batch of hay that is rather dusty and wonder if this could be the culprit. Other than that she is acting fine, still eating, popcorning and drinking plenty. She is a little lazy but that is quite normal for her lol. Should I be worried? And if it could be the hay, what can I do?
Thanks.

It may well be the hay if it is dusty - some are much more sensitive to it than others.
You can try to shake as much dust out of it as you can. If it is particularly bad and causing her too many issues you may just need to replace the hay.

If you have any concerns that it may be a respiratory issue rather than just the hay dust, then please see a vet.

Yer I will give it a good shake. I've just bought 10 kg of hay to get me through the festive period into January and don't think I will be able to get another delivery before Christmas so I really am hoping she will be ok. I'm also gonna have great trouble getting to the vets before Christmas aswell so fingers crossed its just a minor problem.

Sneezing and wet nose are generally due to nasal irritation. Hopefully it’s nothing more than the dusty hay

So if it is just the hay is it nothing to worry about or can it develop into something more serious?

If it is just due to a source of irritation then removing the irritation should help.
Respiratory infections are caused by bacteria which are opportunistic
