Well i adopted Ginger and Soot last year. When we got them they were very scared and wouldnt come and see us at all. I couldnt even pick them up and had to wait until they went into a tube. A year on and Ginger is more confident. She will come and take food from our hands and comes out in her main living area to say hello. Soot however is still very scared and will sit still in her bed all day. She never runs around and sleeps and sits in the same sort of spot all the time. Is there anything i can do to help her not be so scared. She is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old (or there abouts). Is this normal to have one piggie being brave and one being scared? She also likes to bite as well :( I have also tried different foods like corn on the cob, cucumber, strawberrys but they wont touch any of them. They only like to eat carrotts, broccoli, kale and runner beans. Even tried a cook pea and they didnt want to know lol Is this normal?

My Pixel can be quite timid sometimes, but she is the lowest ranking in my little group, so I don't know if it is to do with this maybe?

As for foods, I found mine love salad the most. Some foods (basil, thyme and celery come to mind) I had to try them with a couple of times before they ate everything. They used to love peppers, but these now get left til last. Fussy piggies! rolleyes

:)) :)) sweet little ones :)

they really can be very fussy: one of our pigs only eats a particular kind of apples (Gala) - just like us, they've got their personal different tastes.

They all have their own personalities. My pig Linney is a lap pig, she will basically sit on our laps and go to sleep. She is a gigantic suck! Our late pig, Frenzy, was always very tightly wound. She was friendly, but she was never relaxed. I don't think we ever saw her lay down! She was just nervous by nature. And our current number two pig, Sundae, is somewhere in between. She doesn't nap on us and is extremely chatty when she is being petted, but she's nowhere near as high strung as Frenzy was.

As for food, they do seem to like certain things and can change their likes and dislikes over time. One thing that I have noticed is that competition sometimes makes them eat more... I've noticed that Linney will eat things that she does not particularly care for, if only to keep Sundae from eating them instead! Our biggest favourite is a spring mix greens blend that I buy... it has a variety of baby lettuce and it has always been a big hit with all the pigs.
