Right so Harry my solo boar, who had fallen out with a cage mate before I got him, I have him booked in to get neutered on Friday with the plan of matching him with a sow from a rescue. He's on their list for a date once it's safe to do so.
The same rescue has a possible pregnant sow that they've taken in so there's a possibility of a baby boy being born. If there's a chance of bonding Harry with a baby boy and saving him from going thru surgery, should I cancel the surgery for now?
Thoughts?

Only you can really decide what would work best.

What I would say is that if Harry is young and healthy, having him neutered will give you more options in the future.
He can still be paired with a boar now, but if he falls out with them or outlives them he always has the option of a sow companion further down the line.

Just food for thought if you choose to mate him with a sow and something happens with the sow he most likely will not want to be a bachelor again (live with another boar cagemate).

Cost efficient would be to mate with a boar. Future options would be better if he was neutered as said above. Totally your choice.

By "mate" do you mean find him a friend?

If he is young and healthy, I would still have him neutered and try him with a boar. If it doesn’t work out, you can then try him with a sow and you will have more options for him should he outlive the sow. But the end decision has to be yours and what you feel is best. That’s just what I would do

:agr:
It would be worth going ahead with neutering him. You can still try to bond him with a baby boy if one comes along, but he has options if either one doesn’t, or if a boar bond doesn’t work out.
Once a boar has lived with a sow, they are unlikely to want bond with a boar after that should the sow pass away

Harry came through the surgery really well. The vet said he is quite a character and is a strong healthy piggy. They aren't wrong!
In a few months he will start his journey to find his best match, he's on a rescue's list for bonding. So he shall go on holiday and return with his chosen one (all being well).
I'm really excited for him.
And then I'll have 5! Good grief! Lol
Thanks again everyone xx

So happy to read your positive update about Harry.
Don't forget to let us know who he chooses in a couple of months.
He is a very lucky boy indeed.

Glad that all has gone well. Please follow keep an eye out of any swellings in the genital area in the coming weeks.

I had 5 piggies back in 2009... Gosh, they would rattle around the place these days! :D
