Hi there I’ve had my guinea pig for 8 years and over the past few days she’s began to look very sick she is very wobbly and falls over in her cage she has been very inactive and not eating a lot of food. She has lost about 300g in weight and Has a bald patch on her fur which I read can be some sort of mite as she is so old I don’t want to leave her untreated very long and need some advice. Thanks

Contact a vet ASAP so your piggy can be treated promptly. Also, stat syringe feeding if your piggy is not eating. Have a look on the Guinea Pig Guides (at the top of the page) to see how to syringe feed if you don't have any experience with it.

Sorry your piggy is unwell.
Hope you can get a speedy vet appointment.
Keep us posted.
Holding you in my thoughts

Just to update you all we were able to get a fast vet appointment but unfortunately she had a build up of fluid and possibly cancer they said there wasn’t much they could do as she was so old she had to be put down so she wouldn’t suffer 😭rip nibbles

I am so sorry to hear that.
You are welcome to post a tribute to her in the rainbow bridge section of the forum when you feel ready.
Sleep tight nibbles

So sorry to hear your news.
A tough decision but right for your girl.
8 is a great age and a tribute to your love and care.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve

So sorry for your loss... She lived to a great age and I am sure you gave her a lovely life.
