I've been attempting to bond my pigs, Walter(8months) and Cornflake(1year) for about 2 and a half months now, but they still aren't getting along. I heard it was just because of their age, and their hormones and stuff, but how long until they'll finally get along? They get along for a little bit, when they're together, but then they chatter at eachother, and spray ass juices at one another, and start doing this rumbly ass dance thing. I hate always having to keep them seperatedall the time, especially when they're on the lawn or just out and about in my room. I've tried putting out food for them to share, and I try other techniques to help them be friends, but they ALWAYS end up falling out, or spraying the food with butt spray. It's the grossest thing ever, and it smells horendous. To make matters worse, it's not only eachother that they hate, because they hate me too! :( Everytime I go into the cage to get one of them for lap time they run away from me, no matter how slow and gentle I try to be. And whenever I try to pick up Cornflake he shreiks like he's getting taken to be slaughtered or something. Walter is constantly trying to bite my fingers, like he never tries to nibble, it's always full on biting. I don't know what to do, I want them to love me. I hear about everybody's pigs getting along, and loving them and being all cute, and mine won't even sit on my lap. They always try to run back to their cage. Then if I move them back to my lap and pet them, all they do it squeak and pee on me. mallethead What do I do? It makes me so sad. :(

aww i'm so sorry to hear about your stubborn grumpy pigs! some pigs just don't like each other and there's nothing you can do. maybe keep them seperate except for playtime from now on? to build their confidence up maybe get a cosy snuggle sac thing. they can hide inside it on your knee which will make them feel comfortable while still spending time with you until they get their confidence up? the way to a guinea pigs heart is always through their stomach ;) with my foster pigs i bribe them to like me with green beans. try that maybe? also as a last resort have oyu tried bathing them? it can help bond them sometimes. put them together in the sink with abit of water and wash them with small animal shampoo, then towel dry them and get the hairdryer on them. it's usually such a traumatic experience they bond for moral support! they might not like you very much after, but at least they'll like each other? make sure the cage is clean when they go back in, so it doesn't smell like either one of them. and change the set up round. it sounds like they're ok on neutral space? so try make the cage seem as neutral as possible rather than one or the others territory.

if that doesn't work then you may have to seperate them permanantly :( just make sure they can still see each other in their seperate cages so they can still interact x

I try bathing them like every second week, and it works... until they aren't in the sink anymore, then they go back to hating eachother. D: and I have a two level hutch, so one's on the top and one's on the bottom. I took the ladder out so they can't kill eachother.

aw such a shame :( you've obviously tried very hard. maybe it's time to give it up and just keep them seperate except for play time :( maybe one day they'll get lonely in the hutch and decide to like each other. you do make me giggle though, ass juice haha! x

hahha it's grosse! it's like having two little skunks... that smell worse.

SuzyGpr told me that after the third time trying to bond she gives up because if they don't like each other by then, it's just not going to happen. Stubborn Boars :\ I'm sorry Sunnypig.

we have two boars around this age that don't seem to get along at all, every time they come nose to nose they will chatter teeth, though their cages are next to each other and for some reason they are always popcorning and making happy squeaks, it makes no sense to me how they can be like this, it probably depends on they're nature to be honest:)
