Junior Guinea Pig
Hi,
As some of you may know that Revolver one of my guinea-pigs have got a broken leg at the moment and may possibly need amputation.
(All the information and updates are in General Piggy Chat)
If she does have an amputation - I think it would be cruel to put her back into her double story hutch. As this meant she would have great difficulties of going up and down the ramp also she should be comfortable and happy in her hutch and not having difficulties and being in danger in her own hutch.
So I am currently searching for a single storey outdoor hutch however do you have any recommendations for me?
I personally am not keen on how low the single storey hutches are as this meant it'd be colder for them and lack of protection. Also not quite good for my mum's back when she looks after them. Although I don't think this will be a major problem.

The other issue is if I have a single storey hutch with a stand so its much higher up from the ground which meant they will more protected, sheltered, warmer etc. However I will not be able to have an attached run because they cannot have easy access into the run as they pleases?
At the moment they've always had an attached run to their current hutch so they are used to going in and out whenever they like and I don't want to take that away from them.
However if I am getting them a hutch - it would definitely be a 6ft hutch so plenty of room for them two I hope - does this mean it will be okay for them not having an attached run?
I am so unsure what to do - but of course it really does depends on what happens tomorrow at the vets.
What are you recommendations and advice on this?
Thank-you so much for your help
