Hi there,

I'm very interested in building my two piggies a new home and the C&C appealed to me after seeing the forum thread with everyone showing off their piggie mansions.

Currently my two boys live indoors in a 4ft x 2ft hutch with underneath run area, while it's ok - i'd love them to have much more floor space and like the idea of having an 'open' cage.

My question is regarding the correx - i plan to have a 6 x 3 lower setup with a 3 x 3 upper section - does anyone know where i could source a 8ft x 4ft sheet of correx for the lower section? Ive had a look briefly, but cannot find a site within the uk that is not only reasonably priced but sells them in one large sheet?

I'm guessing i might have to buy 2-3 smaller sheets of correx and somehow bond them together (with tape) - while i don't mind doing this, i'd much rather prefer to have one continuos sheet is possible?

If anyone has any info about this (including prices), i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Travis Perkins sell 8ft x 4ft sheets for about £4.95 inc vat. They're 2 mm thick so I've had to use double thickness and extra cable ties to get the rigidity I wanted. My local branch delivered them for free but you can roll them (sort of) and stick them with a bit of tape to get in the back of a car. I might invest in thicker correx if I need to re-do the cage in the future but am happy I didn't first time round because I made a few mistakes in learning how to do it/ fit the space I had.

Hi,

Have a look at this sticky, I think the tea crate company or some such name does them that size for a very reasonalbe price you should find a link there

I did look at tea create packaging and found their prices to be very reasonable - add tro that their current 25% discount and special further 10% discount code for forum users and their correx has to be about the cheapest i can get my hands on. However the C&C i'm looking to build is 7ft long x 3ft wide, taking into account a 5" lip around the correx bases and i will need at least 8ft x 4ft correx board if i want a continuous sheet (with no joining) - i think the ones supplied by the tea create packaging company are 6.5ft x just over 3ft - this would still mean joining two sheets together.

Travis Perkins sell 8ft x 4ft sheets for about £4.95 inc vat. They're 2 mm thick so I've had to use double thickness and extra cable ties to get the rigidity I wanted.

You were the second person to recommend Travis Perkins - the only problem is that i don't have a trade account and i doubt once ive signed up for an account that i'll ever shop there - they may not even grant me an account because i don't have documents, invoices and letter heads to prove my company.

Nevertheless ive applied for a trade cash card account - and it said my local branch will be in touch - out of interest - how long does that take? What do i tell them when they do contact me? I presume they are going to ask me all sorts of questions about my non-existent business :)p

Hi,

I didn't need a trade account for Travis Perkins, I just went in and bought it.

I contacted the two nearest branches this morning and unfortunately both of them don't hold any stock of it :(

One of the branches a bit further away has some on stock and is doing them at £5.19 per sheet - so loads cheaper than i've already been quoted - thanks for the info flips - you are a life saver and have just saved me the hassel of attempting to join together 3 sheets of correx - plus i've made at least a £12.00 saving - so that means my two boys can have some new toys to go with their new cage :p
