Hello friends! Bit of a silly question but my Boar was neutered on Monday 5th September. Counting that day in his 6 weeks recovery he would be ready for a Sow Monday 17th October. I just wanted to know if this is correct? I'm not sure if you count the day they got neutered towards their 6 week recovery is all. I get the Sow on October 16th and she will be living in a cage side-by-side him for a few days so I wanted to be 100% sure on that day I should be bonding them

Thanks!

Hi

That sounds fine.

It is not like a boar can get a sow pregnant the day before 6 weeks and then he is fully safe the day after; it is a gradual development. ;)

I have heard of several and then had a surprise baby myself from an over 5 weeks post-op boar (not one of mine) myself back in 2011 (the little baby in my avatar picture on the left) but these have mostly happened in the first days after 5 weeks. I have however not heard anything in over a decade and thousands of rescue boar neuters in the UK of a post 6 weeks pregnancy. So the risks are by then vanishingly small. You can be guaranteed that any news to the contrary would make the rounds like wildfire.
