So I am finally ready to accept that these piggies are never moving outside full time.
I can also accept that their wonderfully researched and brilliantly made outdoor hutch is not a good solution indoors.
So I am about to order a C&C cage.
I have found a company that will ship to Switzerland for 30 pounds (that's the shipping charge, not the cost of the cage obviously).
Frankly, at this point in time I am just thankful that someone will ship here.
I will be charged tax on the import, so I really only want to do this once, and I don't have the luxury of seeing a C&C set up before I order.
We will be getting the grids for a 5 x 2 for our boar and 2 sows.
I plan to extend this to at least a 6 x 2 using perspex (which I can source locally) in the future.
I will be adding in a 2 x 1 loft. Our pigs currently use a ramp and love it, so this space will definitely be utilized.
But I was wondering if it is worth adding a second 1 x 2 loft?
Or will the ramp take up too much of the open floor space?
I am currently using a hay box during floor time, which is sized to fit in the loft, and when both of our girls get in together they can be a bit grumpy with each other.
Basically they get on well, but when food is involved they seem to need a bit more personal space?
As the loft is going to be the main hay area, I wonder if 2 lofts would be better?
I would love to see a picture if anyone has this set up.
And I am also open to advice as to what other bits you wish you had ordered when you first got your C&C.
For example, are the hay racks any good?
I am planning on getting the stand too, as I figure if I need more grids later on I can take the stand apart and put the cage onto a table.
Underfloor heating means the cage can not be place directly onto the floor (it also means we don't get cold feet in the Winter).
Thanks in advance for any feed back or suggestions.
