Hey guys! We recently lost both of our piggies within 2 weeks of one another. So my early Christmas present has been a sweet little baby and I would love some tips for bonding with her! Our late piggies were older when we got them and never really bonded to us as much as I would have hoped. Being younger and solo for right now, I'm hoping this little girl will. I currently have her in a cage, on a desk right in the main room so she is around us all the time and I talk to her everytime I pass her.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
When I first got my baby guinea pig she was really skittish, she would hide in her house all the time. I found that having floor time with her really helped. I would sit in a pen on the floor with her and let her explore. I would hold veggies and she would slowly come up to me and take the veg.

Hi and welcome!
Great that you want to give your little baby a same sex companion. There are not as many guinea pig rescues in the US, but there are a number of good ones where you are in safe hands. If you can get to one that would be best.

Your baby is so small that she will attach herself to any other piggy, as her need for companionship is paramount. However, not all piggies will gladly accept a youngster. If you have the option for a meet&greet before you adopt would be best or at least have the option to return a failed piggy. If not, going for another baby girl should be your second safest bet. With babies so young, it is always a toss up wether their need for company is paramount to the need to quarantine any guinea pig that has not come from a good rescue with a mandatory quarantine.
