I currently have 3 piggies.

Here are Russell and S'mores.IMG_20170516_095155_326.webp
Here's Petey.

I got Petey and S'mores together when they were teeny tiny babies. They lived in harmony until they both turned roughly 4 months old. That was the same time I introduced baby Russell to them.

Things went well for about 5 days with all 3 together. Then Petey and S'mores began fighting. There was never blood drawn, but very aggressive behavior.

I ended up separating them after trying 2 more times to keep them all together. Now Petey is alone. I've been on the lookout for a friend for him. He seems very lonely and squeaks each time I come and go from the room he's in.

Is a baby the best option? He is very dominant and the aggressive one in the previous arrangement.

I found a bonded pair that I'd love to rescue but I've experienced trios not working well together already. The bonded pair are older than Petey. Approx. 8 months old.

Is it possible I could somehow reintroduce all of them together to form a larger group of 5? Would this work? Or are pairs best? I know larger groups can work well, but 5 may not be big enough.

I'm sure I read on here somewhere that pairs or a herd of 10+ is the best for males

When it comes to boars a pair is definitely best.
Trios rarely work out (as you have already seen) and a herd requires a huge amount of space.
I would stick with looking for a single friend for your lone boar.
