How many guineas can fit in a 48 sq. ft. shed? Somene has applied to adopt and that's their set up, so just wanted to be sure :)

That's a very interesting question and I look forward to reading what the experts say!
We are soon going to add a 7th piggy to our 26 sq ft set up but I reckon then it will be full up and depending on how the piggies use the space I might add an extra 2 or 4 square feet if it looks like they need it... in a shed do they have access to all the space all day and night and adequate heating and cooling for the whole thing all year round?

It is a confuddling question haha! Yup, they're free range 8n the shed with access to a bluebell hutch stuffed with hay and snuggle safes at all times in winter, then they move out in summer so it's not too stuffy and have a huge run attached in the shade 😁

That sounds good then, I just know when I inquired about guinea pig boarding somewhere they had lots of outdoor space and were saying 35 sq ft enclosures but the most they could guarantee in bad weather or overnight was a 12 sq ft hutch for 6 piggies, which would result in all out war between my spoiled indoor lot!

I have my 5 in a 24 sq ft hutch, 12 sq ft on the bottom layer and 12 sq ft on the top. I know you're not supposed to count anything but the ground floor but since I put carpet on the ramp they go up and down the ramp all the time:)
