Hi there!

So, about an hour ago I noticed my oldest piggy (a 4 year-old boar) try to dominate my youngest (an 11 month-old boar). It was very sudden, and the oldest just wouldn't leave the youngest in peace; eventually the youngest started lunging and threatening the oldest. I have decided to separate them (at least for now); they're still in the same cage, just separated by clear panels. However, they seem to be missing each other's company? They have shared a cage since the youngest was only 2 months old and have always gotten along, and it would break my heart if I had to separate them for good. Does anyone have advice? Is this normal behavior for a 4 year-old piggy?

Thanks!

Sometimes a youngster can just need to be put in their place but with any sudden behaviour like this I would suggest you monitor and perhaps see a vet. Potential medical issues would need to come first - A sudden change in behaviour can be because of them being unwell, even something like a bit of arthritis given his age making him feel sore.
