Hi there,
I have two boars both 15 weeks old now (3 and a half months) and I’m looking to get 2 new Guineas. I’m looking at two bonded pairs a pair of boars (6 months old) and a female and a male who have lived together since birth (8 months old). I have a cage measuring 1.8m by 1.2m and they get floor time for a few hours daily. Which pairing would be the most likely to work?

Both of these combinations are a recipe for disaster unfortunately. If you’re looking to get two more than you’d need two males, two females or a neutered male and a female in a separate cage entirely. Adding anything else to two boars simply doesn’t work I’m afraid. I’m a bit confused by the wording and the title especially so I’m assuming you want to put them all together?

You can only keep two boars together so if you get further piggies they must be kept entirely separate. Please do not add any more piggies of either sex in with your current boar pair as it will cause huge fights and broken bonds. At worst, you could end up with multiple single piggies if you try to add any other piggies in with your current pair.

You cannot put a sow in with a bonded pair of boars as they will fight. You also should not really add any sows into the same room as a bonded pair of boars, particularly as your pair are just about to hit their teens, so you really do need to rule out the sow/boar pair. Just smelling a sow can cause your current boar pair to fight with each other.

This means your only option is to have the six month old boar pair, and as I’ve said, they will need to live in an entirely separate cage and never any contact with your current pair.

Hi there,
I have 2 15 week old boars. I have lots of space (1.8m by 1.2m) and a couple hours of floor time daily. I want to add one or two new piggies. I’m getting quite confused about what pairings work. Is it possible for me to have any more piggies in the same enclosure?

We have answered this on your other thread, so I will ask for it to be merged with your other.

No, you cannot add any other piggies in the same enclosure as pair of boars. Boars must remain as a pair at all times.
if you add any other piggies to a boar pair then there will be fights, broken bonds and separations

you can have a separate boar pair in a separate cage in the same room, but each pair must not have physical contact with each other.
you should avoid having any sows in the same room as bonded boars adding sows to a boar room and the boars then smelling sows can cause your boars to fight and break their bond.

Please do read the guides below. I have added them on your other thread, but I will also add them again here
