Hi

My 3yo female Guinea pig Mila appears to be in discomfort when trying to poop. She goes up on all fours and squeaks. I’ve also noticed blood (dark red) around her bum today. She still has an appetite but it starting to stay in her house.

We’re down in Northampton next Friday to see Simon at his clinic with our other pig Maisie having been treated for an abscess (been a nightmare start to the year all things pig), so we are thinking of taking her down too and doubling up on the appointment. Our local vets aren’t pig experts! We’re going to keep an eye on her tonight and tomorrow and possibly take her to a local vet if she doesn’t show signs of improvement.

We’ve also just given her .3ml of loxicom for a bit of pain relief.

Any advice on making her more comfortable?

Thanks

I’m sorry that Mila isn’t well 😞 She could have a uti or have a bladder stone if she is squeaking in pain and is bleeding when passing poo / weeing. It’s good to take her along to see Simon but I’d try and have her seen sooner if you can as Friday is a long way off x

Sorry to hear your girl isn’t well. I agree and would try to have her seen sooner rather than later. Hopes she is okay.
