3yo Boar recently neutered

Hi everyone,

I have a 3 year old boar who was neutered 2 days ago (9th June).

He has pooped loads which I’m happy about and seems to be munching away at his hay. However, he seems pretty lethargic and not himself, I’m sure any man would if they woke up without testicles!

I’m just concerned about him but before I call the vet I wanted to check if this is normal? As it was only 2 days ago he had the surgery I’m assuming he’s still sort of coming round and will be in a bit of pain.

He has a check up with the vet who performed the surgery on Wednesday so debating whether to wait until then to voice any concerns.

He also really stinks, I know they aren’t the meant to smell like roses but he seems extra stinky since his surgery. Just wanted to check that’s also normal?

Make sure you weigh him daily while he is recovering so you can monitor him more closely

Yes he is on 0.54ml of metacam twice a day. I’ll weigh him shortly. He’s really not himself and seems to sort of be shivering and has really runny eyes as well.

If you are worried then it is always safest to call the vet straight away.
