I have some from Teacrate - I didnt want to spend 3x as much to get pieces to cover my cage in 4mm or thicker (square shape ... this stuff comes in oblongs ...)and I am moving the piggies into the extension to my house when its built so chances are the cage will be a different shape/size in there anyway I waffle ...

Basically because its so thin do I even need to score it or can it just be folded , if it needs scoring what is the best tool to do so with as its so thin I dont want to cut through!

Also due to the shape I have enough spare correx to go upto 30cm high on the walls, is this really needed? or is lower better? I plan to use megazorb bedding and fleece (one or the other, not together - probably fleece in the summer due to ease of getting everything dried and megazorb while its cold)

Thanks in advance

I cant comment on the scoring but what i will say, is lower is better to an extent. I think mine are 5 inches and personally i would now go for 4 in future. If you put it too high you wont get the water bottle in anywhere, and also if you make cage liners (which i cant praise enough) You would just have to use more fabric with a higher side. However, that said, if you have babies the cage will need higher sides so they dont escape! :)

I made the Correx at the back of my cage quite high to protect the wall behind but apart from that the front is not high and the sides slightly higher....just the way it worked out for me but I did have to cut out a place for the water bottle as the sides were too high for it. My liners dont go up and over the correx though.

I'm not sure for 2mm what would be best for scoring (or if its needed) but I used a stanley knife on my 4mm correx. If you do use a knife like that only expose a tiny bit of the blade (1mm maybe?)to stop yourself cutting right through accidentally....

Good luck

I used a craft knife to score my 2mm correx, and tbh I did cut through in a couple of places :red but that was easily fixed with duct tape. I don't think it would fold easily in a dead straight line if not scored.

I used 15 cm (approx 6 inch) sides which I am quite happy with.

:-) job done

along the "grain" no scoring was needed as it folded nicely, against the grain a light scoring was need and it all looks ok :-) seems sturdy enough and the piggies are now on megazorb which they really didnt seem to know what to do with hahah :-)

cheers
