I am confused...

I just cleaned cindys cage and at the moment she is in a simple 2x4 C+C cage. I want to put a second story on it for her, just a 2x1 and i am really confused aboout how to attatch the second storey ?

Please help... I'm having a blonde moment ;D

you have to use the corner connectors differently, having them standing on their side rather than "flat".

Dont know how to explain it!

lol... the connector has to sit sideways rather than flat... it is hard to explain ;D even to myslef
I got it sussed... cindy loves it up there :) she also has a new place to hide (under it) lol

can you post a picture, as I still havent figured out how to make it properly sturdy..

Like, the two grids that form the upper level, how do you get them to stay so sturdy that the connectors in the middle dont come apart? Do you have one grid going down aswell, forming sort of a T, to give the whole thing some stability?

Help!

Cubes and Coroplast... it is a grid cage... here is a good website for you :) www.guineapigcages.com

here are some pics for you abnoba... sorry the first one is so dark...

I dont have enough cubes o make a base for the cage bt they have a huge piece of wood under there... i just put that one under the second story just to make it more sturdy :)

AH YES, like I imagined. I was planning on doing the same - two grids as floor, and one perpendicular for stability, making a T.

Just wondered if you had used some other ideas, as I always find it reduces running space so much to plonk the perpendicular bit in.

Yer ive found that too... I have no ideas on how else to do it though... sorry

i dont have ant spare grids at the moment to bend so i am using this...(see pic below)  its flexible but has a stick behind it... its only temporary until i get more grids though... :)

(its the blue and white thing) ;D

I know what you guys mean about the perpendicular grid cutting down on piggy running space, but as yet I haven't managed to find a way of making the upper level secure with it!

Abnoba I will attach a couple of photos showing my ramp. I used two grids, bent into an "L" shape and then cable tied them together. I got some correx the width of the new ramp, added a couple of inches to each side and then scored it to make a long tube shape. Because I am overcautious I then cut a few small slits in the correx and cable tied it to the grids. To this I added some flotex carpet I had spare. Because one of my girls likes to eat the carpet I have added a folded towel over the top of the flotex and this works a treat. See what you think.

The photos show my original set up, I now have a larger "L" shaped upper level (hence the need for additional support), I will try to get some updated photos shortly. I have also modified the correx "tube" on the ramp so that it goes up one side, i.e. the side you can see the grids as my carpet eater was also eating the correx! The girls have no trouble with the ramp at all and no-one has yet fallen off (touching wood frantically!).

Hope this helps.

hehe silly big feet theyre mine 2funny theyre gone now ::)

The ramp you've made cavies galore is great! I desperatly need to save for more grids! ;D
