Thinking of upgrading my boys to a two storey cage as Suilven is getting seriously intrepid and likes to explore and they just haven't got enough space. Two floors would be great as he'sm a climber and it would mean Merry would get some peace if Suilven could go upstairs. Merry's bag legs are a bit stiff for ramps but you never know...

Has anybody got a commercial 2 floor cage or can reccomend one? I would love to go C&C but where our pigs are kept in a bay window just isn't practical for it adn Suilven would just climb out all the time.

The ramps in commercial cages always seem to be a bit steep for guineas, IMHO - they're mainly designed for ferrets, bunnies and other more aerodynamic creatures!

A friend of mine has made a mezzanine level in a commercial cage, using fleece - covered wooden boards. I am not sure how the upper level is fixed on securely, but I'm sure there are many ways to make it safe. Cable ties through drilled holes would be good.

The only thing with adapting commercial cages is that they're pretty small anyway and putting in a ramp just diminishes the floor space even further.

ive looked but i cant find any good sized and priced ones so far [but try gumtree and ebay]
soz this has nothing to do with your thread but your picture on your avatar the golden brown coloured abysinan [excuse my spelling] looks just like my female!]:))

These are two of the hutches I'm currently considering to replace my older hutches, my 6 piggies have permanent access to a 15ft run, so the run bit on the bottom is not of great importance but I like the idea they have somewhere dry and off the ground but still open to go if the weather is a bit miserable. Don't know if this helps at all.

I'm currently selling my 2 tier cage as I have no need for it anymore.

I do love it though, and my piggies loved to run up and down the ladder which was entertaining to watch :)) x

Thanks Rainbow stars - thats one I was looking at. Did your piggies manage the ramp ok? I know Suilven will but a bit worried about Merry...

I will have a think but if I want it how much do reckon it would cost to post etc as no-where near you.

Hi Merrypip, I have a three-storey cage (which has been adapated to make it into a four-storey cage for my tribe :))) and my 3 babies have all managed the ramps with no problem at all.

I covered the (wooden) ramps with carpet to make them more grippy, but apart from that, I made no adaptations at all, and all of the piggies fly up and down them without a second thought.
