So bought a new cage today for the piggies as my friends are heading to a different country and want us to look after their pigs and so we bought a new cage. But problem is, theres a ramp that gos from the top to the bottom and my piggies dont understand it. Charm seems to kinda understand when i help her go up it, but when Sookie got three quarters the way up she decided it was a little too far in the air and she couldnt have that and so she sat still, eyes wide and waited until i pushed her up the top. So I was wondering if i used food to encourage them on it, do you think they would use it? or any other ideas?

Hi,
The ramp looks quite steep. Maybe you could either make it longer or put something under the end of it (like a little hut or something) so the slope is less steep ?
Another thing you could do is add sides to it so they feel more secure and dont fall off it. Some people also make a tunnel for their ramps.
I have ramps in my piggys cages and with a gentle slope and sides they are all comfortable using them. Some took longer than others though :))

it does look steep ay :/ we but this board underneath it now so it looks a little less steep by not by much. how could we put sides on it?

I put an old sock over my ramp to give them better grip :)

I have noticed a lot of cages have really steep ramps..what are the makers thinking...

They should say hutch with a slide rolleyesmallethead

lol i know ay. apparentnlty you can also put this hutch on the grass but there is stilts on it what puts it high off the ground so if you put it on the ground and pulled out a section and your pigges tried to get down theres a chance your piggy could break its legs :(
