Our newest addition to our family is Bree. She is absolutely adorable. Her and a two year old that we rescued about a month ago are our first. We have researched the web about sneezing and are pretty scared. Bree has only been with us for five days. She has begun talking and isnt quite as skiddish but she is little and has never been socialized at all so the first few days we pretty much just talked to her as she was petrified. I began really holding her yesterday and noticed sneezing. Tonight i noticed a little wetness that is clear around her nose after sneezing. I dont know her behavior or eating patterns nor what her normal breathing sounds like. I want to take her to vet but cant till morning. I'm scared to take her also because she has just begun to settle in and her little heart beat isnt going 100 miles an hour. She is so little cam she handle the stress.

She needs to get to a vet as soon as possible. She may have an Upper Respiratory Infection. Call the vet first thing in the morning, URIs can go downhill fast.

Are you using woodshavings as bedding? These can irritate a guinea pigs respiratory system.

Hey,first please try no to worry- my boar Mo developed a sneezing issue back in October he wasn't quite so small but was still only 7 months old. I also advise a vet visit as like you I did the dreaded Google search and thought it might be an URI. However,it was not and turned out Mo just has an allergy to something-we think hay. So please do take the little one to the vet but don't dread over it like I did. It might only be a minor problem like some hay up their nose. :)

If in doubt, see a vet on the next day. Your girl may just be reacting hay dust, as she is not showing any symptom of advanced URI. Be aware that any vet will in doubt treat for URI, whether he is convinced that she has one or not; it is just one of these things that you cannot afford to treat in case it may be coming up. ;)

Here are our tips for vet visits: Tips For Vet Visits

Mine kept having periods of breathing problems so I switched to Finacard, which helped but it would still happen although less often. I then switched to fleece and no more snuffles at all since October but means my washing machine is being used a lot more and I have to find space on the airer.

Even though mine are on fleece now, they will sneeze now & again. Probably from the meadow hay I use in the tray or Timothy hay for them to eat. They may have an allergy, but it's still worth a vet visit to rule all the nasty things it might be. Please get a cavy savy vet though, otherwise they will want to do a 100 tests &I give you a massive bill. Good luck

Not pine sorry aspen..we originally bought pine and found out there could be a problem so we didnt want to chance it. She is on antibiotic and seems to be doing well.
