2 men and a little lady?

I have two year old boars who live together (very well)

I have resisted the temptation to get more pigs for a whole year but went out today and fell in love with one.

Its a baby girl.

I havent bought her (yet) cos i just dont know how it would work.

Can girls get neutered? if so would the two boys fight over her?

If I got the boys neutered would they still fight?

I think it isnt really a realistic option and dont really want to put my boys through an op, just so i can have another but i just thought i would gather some opinions.

I would resist all temptation as it's likely to cause problems with your boys. If they are happily bonded let them stay that way, one whiff of a sow (even on your hands and clothes) can be enough to start them fighting.

Getting a sow neutered is not advisable and getting the boys done will only stop babies, not their behaviour.

I notice that you are talking about buying too so presumably she is in a petshop

Perhaps if you really feel that you could offer a home to more piggies please think rescue - there are lots of lovely piggies all in need of a good home The possibilities are

a) maintain the status quo

b) get both boys neutered and adopt one sow each for them to live as a pair

c) adopt another two boars or sows to live as another seperate pair

Hope that is some help Don't forget piggies need company so a lone piggy isn't a great outcome.

Hi Sarah,

Sows can be neutered/spayed but its dodgy and not worth the risk. 2 boars would argue over a sow, it should be 1 boar per female group.

Also I would consider rescue as there are just too many in rescues at the mo especially after christmas.

it realy is for the best 3 is always a bad number and especially 2 boys and a girl.If anything i would suggest you get 2 girls and keep them together well away from the boys.even having the two girls about may casuse the boys to fight.
