Hi my friend’s Guinea pigs died suddenly both around 10 months old about 2 days ago he noticed they looked thinner but gave them more food and a few extra peppers and that seemed to work today around less then 2 hours ago he called me (I’ve had my Guinea pigs longer so he wanted my advice) he said that when he went to his cage to say hi to them he touched one and she didn’t respond at all she was laying on her side not moving (at the time only one was acting like this) he picked her up placed her on the bed and assessed what was wrong from her outside nth seemed wrong accept for her being wet on one side which was dry he tried to put her on the other side but she wouldn’t budge and it seemed like she was contorting her body this happened for about 30-40 mins till it unfortunately past meanwhile his other one was acting up js as well before it also passed it happened really fast between them being kinda ok to not at all he fed them they right Diet cleaned the cage with soap and water when it was necessary gave them a steady supply of hay pellets and vegs the only thing that was off today was it was a bit hotter then usual and they were cooking a lot but he said the house didn’t get too hot they couldn’t of gotten into anything since the cage is away from any things they could eat or chew and he was monitoring them since he noticed a weight change but saw nth else unusual I can’t really find Nth abt this so I hope someone could help since my Guinea pigs have never had this situation

I'm very sorry! That's terrible. :(
Are there other guinea pigs involved? If there are, please tell your friend to take them to a vet asap.

We can only speculate what might have been going on.
It could have been something they have eaten.
Heat can be fatal for guinea pigs.
But since they both seem to have lost weight, it could also have been going on for a longer period of time. Only a vet check could have given an idea what was going on.

I’m so sorry your friend has lost both of their piggies. How very sad. Unfortunately no one will be able to say why this has happened. We can only guess. It could have been the heat, something they have eaten, or an illness of some kind.
