my friend has 2 male pigs who are ok sometimes but fight quite badly at others.
Is there a way of helping them get on better? thanks all.

Hi,

Not really. It depends what you mean by fighting. Has there been blood?

If it has got to that stage then they need to be separated. Some boars (males) just can't get on because they're both dominant (there has to be one dominant one in any piggy relationship really). If neither of them wants to be the submissive one, then you've got an issue.

With our two, it took about 4 months for the problems to begin (in terms of their age I mean). Then they just scrapped non-stop. Now they each have a cage and are amicable neighbours but that's the extent of it.

Thats good to know about your piggies, mikulinek!

I have 2 boars (brothers who have been together since birth) who have been getting worse and worse since they reached about the age of 4 months culminating in a HUGE roll around scrap this afternoon. Patchy has a nasty bite on his nose but Scruff seems ok as far as I can see... they are currently in separate cages opposite each other so can still see and hear the other. I hope I will be able to get them back together but not too sure atm.....

Hi Tylerina, you may be able to bond your piggies once they finish their hormonal stage over a year old... for now keep them as they are:))

OP - looks like your friend will have to separate the boys if they are fighting x

Thanks so much for that PiggiePal! Sorry for highjacking your thread OP!

My piggies are much calmer even though it's been less than 24 hrs - does it matter that they have gone a bit quiet tho? They have eaten brekky as usual and were both wheeking and waiting for it at the usual time lol! They are now just snoozing in their respective beds....Maybe I am just so used to all the rumbling and teeth chattering that it seems too quiet lol!
