My two boars, Bacon and Eggs, have been living together since May, about 5 months. Bacon is one and a half years old, and Eggs is about 6 months now. Bacon is still trying to mount Eggs, and they are occasionally chattering their teeth at each other. I think it is due to lack of space, if you've seen my earlier thread, "Please help..." You know why. Are there any other ideas on how to get them to like each other more? They sleep together, so I'm not sure what has driven them apart. Neither is ill, I can tell you that.

My boys have been together for over 2 years and they still have a 'chase and chatter' almost every day! Bacon will be sensing that Eggs is in (or about to start) his hormonal phase, and will be asserting his dominance, making sure Eggs knows his place in the hierarchy. But if it bothers Eggs too much, why not try a cuddly toy in the hutch? Bacon can perhaps... erm, exert his frustration on the cuddly toy instead ;)

You will have no doubt already seen it, but here is the Dominance guide - what's normal and what's not.

Thanks! I don't really think it bothers Eggs that much, but I think he knows when Bacon is going to try to mount him, he starts squeaking like crazy. And, well, Bacon has done this to Eggs since he came to live with us, though I must say it did calm down a little, now it is starting up again. I'll try the cuddly toy thing, see how it works!

Hang on in there! This is normal boar behaviour, especially if one or both are in the hormonal teenage months from 4-14 month.
