when i got gilbert i only got him. but now i wanna get him a friend. when i introduce them to a neutral territory. should i put the new one first? or gilbert? or what should i do anyways?

Gibert is such a cute name. I like it ;). I think Gilbert would love a friend and it is lovely you want to get him one. Were you thinking of getting an adult boar or a baby? The introduction process does vary depending on if it is a baby or adult. Either way it is best not to put them in one at a time as then the nuetral territory will smell of which ever one you put in first.

If you are going for an older pig then put them together on your knee or on the couch. Take it slow and build up the time they are together before running them together in a nice large space like a pig proofed room. Make sure you have a blanket at the ready just incase you need to throw it over them and seperate them in an emergancy. Expect to see mounting, rumbling etc... the blanket is just incase a fight breaks out.

With a baby you can pretty much put them together in a freshly cleaned cage but do keep a close eye as a baby pig will not be able to deal with aggression of a much bigger pig if it did happen.
There is more info of barmy4boars website if you google it.

Hope that helps.

I just put them in at roughly same time when I did mine but obviously one was first but made sure I was all ready so next one went in straight after (ie door ready open on cage etc..)

Make sure you don't leave them alone for at least an hour when I first introduced george and tiger there was a lot of bottom wiggling and a bit of rumbling and chasing. Me and my boyfriend took it in turns to go to the bathroom etc.. just in case and sat close by with a towel. All ended well for me but is best to be safe.

It is a good idea to have lots of hay and veggies to distract them and some toys etc..

Make sure if you introduce in something that has been used by other piggie before that it is scrubbed out to remove any smells etc.. Also when putting them back in cage after may help to re-arrange the furniture a bit and give it a full scrub out first.
