This is just a really random question, but i was thinking as i could possibly have space for a 2x5 (i've been told suitable for 3 piggies) i could adopt another pig from a rescue or something, but i was just over thinking and thought would having 2 boars, and only 1 sow be a bit too dominating sort of thing is it best to have more or equal sows to boars ?
Don't even know if i could adopt but i then the question started bugging me so i just had to ask it :L

I think that would just cause trouble between the boys. Do you currently have 2 boys?

Yeah, Bentley and Chester, they're brothers as far as I'm aware and have always been together, and haven't had any problems yet but wouldn't want to start anything :/

In that case, the only thing I could suggest would be to get a baby boar. But this could still mean your boys fall out and then you'd have to house them seperately (and get them new friends).

This was a possibility for me a while back but the risk of my boys falling out wasn't worth it. Then it turned out the boy that needed a home was actually a girl mallethead so blooming good job I didn't take her!

The rule is to never keep more than 1 boar with sows, because they can fight to the death to be a dominant male. *i know, boys are such a pain!*

The only people who sucessfully keep more than one boar with sows have like 9 boars and 19 sows, in a HUGE *and i mean literally huge* space, :)

Its generally not recomended However you could extend to give your boys more space anyway as i think they would love that. :D

Ahh, i see i thought something like that would happen, just the question started bothering me and i just had to ask :')

No harm in asking :)

I know how tempting it is if you think you have space to fill it up with piggies :))

Boars live well in pairs, sows can live as a herd.
Never put a sow in with two boars, they will fight to the death :(
Unless you have the amenities and space for a further set up, I'd stick to the two boars you already have for now :))
Always better to be safe if space is an issue as your boars could fall out at some point and need separating - sorry if that sounds negative, but it is reality in piggy world :{

Aha, yeah dw about sounding negative, just keep seeing adorable piggies up for adoption and wish i could help them all i guess, hopefully can make some more space once i've moved out, every time i look at flats, etc, first thing i think of is where i could put my piggies :')

:(|) We're as bad hun, started off with two little brothers then adopted two more...we have 5 boars and 10 sows now living in divided pens in our lounge :x x)
The time will come when you will be able to expand your piggy family rolleyes ;)

I can't wait haha, i have the feeling I'm gonna have a house similar to the one at the end of 101 dalmations (dunno if you've seen it) where it's got the spots but mine will have piggy paws on it and i'll just have millions of guinea pigs running around me.
My friends tell me when I'm older i won't be the mad old cat woman i'll be the mad guinea pig woman. !

:(|) That made me laugh :))
We sacrificed two walls and furniture in our lounge to build our piggies set ups, my dining area had to go two months ago to make room for a trio of Himi girls I'd been longing for :{ rolleyes
We live in the centre of the room :(|)

I know, I'm the same, so many needing homes. I often wish I was in a house and not a flat to be able to love more of them
