My guinea pig has a litter box and he does use it (Sometimes). But on some cases he will pee in his Fleece on himself and get his underside all wet. Any thoughs?

It may be he’s sitting in his pee. Does the urine wick away from the surface or does it pool on top? Do you have something absorbent under the fleece?

Guinea pigs are incontinent so will generally poo and pee everywhere. They’ll also poo and pee where they eat and drink.

Does he live alone?

yes he lives alone and he has a fleece liner. but a fleece cover for him to hide. On most days he just poos as expected but some days he just pees where he hides. i dont know if its just because hes young and learning. I got him Feb 28 so hes still new to a litterbox. when i got him i had him at the vet for mites and an crust eyes so he was on antibiotics for 10 days and when i took him back for a followup he was perfect in the vets eyes. Hes well active and eats

It’s not that. As said they will generally pee and poo where they sleep, it’s nothing to do with being young.

Please get him a friend as soon as possible. They need companionship of their own kind, especially at such a young age. I’m afraid no amount of human time spent with him can replace the bond with another piggy. It’s one of their welfare rights so I would see to it this soon. Preferably through a rescue where he can pick his own friend. You should double check that he’s in fact a boar and not a sow.
